Spring turkey hunting is right around the corner for most states. Those who hunt turkey know the excitement that exists for calling these big birds in. However, there are still a lot of questions about what type of broadhead should I use?
Remember, unlike large game the vitals on a bird are smaller. So you want to pick a broadhead that is best suited for you, your bow set up and your style. Your choices would include fixed, mechanical, and the guillotine. Fixed broadheads mean a more precise shot with less damage to the meat. Mechanical broadheads expand a provide a larger diameter of cutting. Thus, creating a larger wound that is going to kill the bird. Then there is the guillotine. The name speaks for itself.
Personally, I prefer to use mechanical broadheads for turkey hunting.
